Canadian science fair honors to 'space elevator' materials project.(ASM NEWS)(Brief article)

Dundas [Ontario, Canada] District student Tobias Williams placed third overall at the 47th annual Bay Area Science & Engineering Fair (BASEF), held in April at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario. His project--"Stairway to Heaven"--analyzed different materials to be used as a tether for an elevator designed to rise 38,000 km (24,000 mi) above the surface of the Earth.
