USKH Inc. announced that William Schneider, P.E., a senior electrical engineer, recently joined the mechanical/electrical department in Anchorage. After receiving his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va., Schneider moved to Alaska in 1996. He brings with him more than 22 years of electrical engineering experience.

USKH also hired Penny Schnering as a marketing coordinator in the corporate marketing and communications department. Schnering will work from the USKH Anchorage office. Prior to joining the USKH team, Schnering worked for Rep. Don Young, R-Alaska, as a caseworker responsible for military academy nominations for the state.

USKH was recognized recently at a Anchorage Chamber of Commerce luncheon as a winner of the 2006 Work Family Award. The award was created by the United Way's Success By 6 Initiative and co-sponsored by the Anchorage School District. The award honors firms and organizations that excel in supporting working parents with small children. USKH also is celebrating its 25th silver anniversary of the Fairbanks office opening. Originally constructed in the 1950s, the building was initially a furniture showroom.
