Electric companies seek boost summer supply.

Studies done by the independent operator of Connecticut's power grid warn that electricity could be in short supply this summer, so local power companies are gearing up to find ways to ensure the lights stay on. The Connecticut Light and Power Co. (CL&P), a wholly owned subsidiary of Northeast Utilities, announced it will issue a new request for proposals for emergency generation in the Stamford/Norwalk area to meet critical near-term electric system reliability needs in southwest Connecticut for the summer of 2003.
