Radio Shack Targets M.I. Market With 150-Store Tech America Chain Tandy Corporation, parent company of the 1,900-store Radio Shack retail chain, has announced to key suppliers of sound and recording equipment that it will soon open a nationwide chain of electronics superstores designed to cater to a broad base of consumers, from musicians and sound contractors to "do-it-yourself" hobbyists who want to build their own computers.

The new chain, according to prospective suppliers, will be called Tech America, and locations are slated to open by Christmas in Denver, Phoenix, Seattle, Boston, and Miami.
