American Music acquires M&M Music: backed by Guitar Center, school dealer makes first acquisition in expansion bid. (Retailer Update).

AMERICAN MUSIC, a division of Guitar Center, Inc., has acquired the stock of M&M Music, a five-store retail music group headquartered in Valdosta, Georgia, for $6.8 million. The acquisition was announced by David E. Fleming, president and chief operating officer of American Music, and Tom and Nancy Warren, owners of M&M Music.

American Music will immediately transition the M&M Music retail stores to the American Music brand name. M&M Music has a 30-year history and currently serves more than 200 schools in the Southeast. The company has four full-line retail music stores and a service center in Georgia, one retail store in Jacksonville, Florida, and a network of affiliate stores in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama.
