STEPPING UP THE PACE of its Texas expansion, Music & Arts has opened five new stores and a new 17,000-square-foot distribution facility in Dallas County. The moves are part of an effort to strengthen the Guitar Center division's position in the country's largest school music market, in the wake of upheaval in the retail landscape. Late last year, Holze Music, one of the leading school music retailers in Texas, filed for bankruptcy.
