Baher Abdulhai, assistant professor and manager of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) research for the University of Toronto (Department of Civil Engineering, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada M5S 1A4; Email: Baher@ecf.utoronto.ca) presented a paper discussing automatic incident reporting technologies. Abdulhai discussed using different artificial neural net algorithms to analyze highway data and correctly identify an incident.
The system studied in this work is a probabilistic neural network (PNN). PNN uses probabilistic models to determine if an incident has occurred.
