Airbus Industrie has now begun the formal marketing of the A3XX superjumbo commercial jet aircraft. Formal go-ahead for production will depend on receipt of enough orders for launch, estimated by some at 50 units or more. To date, nine airlines have expressed intentions to order 52 of these aircraft, according to Airbus' chief executive, Noel Forgeard.

The goal at Airbus for the A3XX airframe and engines is "to deliver robust structural design and mature material technologies for a competitive, new product." Technology transfer will come from earlier Airbus aircraft. ...
