BOEING ANNOUNCES "SONIC CRUISER" TRANSPORT, LIKELY TO DROP 747X.

A discloser by the Boeing Company that it is working on a "radically different" mid-sized airplane that could fly near the speed of sound could be a major challenge to the 555-passenger Airbus A380 superjumbo jet, according to an aircraft industry expert at the Teal Group consulting firm. According to Teal Group, a new plane would allow Boeing to dominate the 200-350 seat point-to-point market.
The potential [superscript three]20XX[superscript two] jet might be targeted against the Airbus A300s and A310s, and could be a replacement for Boeing 757s and 767s.
