According to an article in the Washington Post of May 30, Esi-Tel, the Eskom Enterprises telecommunications arm, says it should be relatively simple to string a fiber-optic cable all the way to Europe, without using submarine cables. At a Black IT Forum conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, Eskom's executive manager Ron Coney explained their plans to become part of the second national operator (SNO).
