TORAY DEVELOPS NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR CARBON NANO TUBES.

Toray Industries Inc. in Tokyo, a synthetic fiber (and carbon fiber) maker, says that it has developed a new technology to produce high-quality carbon nano tubes at lower costs than today's market.
Carbon nano tubes are one of the premier microtechnology materials expected to be used for fuel cells and medical devices.
The new technology has been developed through joint research between Toray and Nagoya University Professor Hisanori Shinohara, said company representatives.
The company plans to begin commercial production of the world's first-ever dual-structure carbon nano tubes in 2004, it said.
