BOEING'S MULALLY TELLS COMPANY'S CRITICS TO STOP WHINING.

Boeing Co. needs to change if it's going to survive, and those who are critical of the aerospace giant's diversification plan need to "stop whining," the head of the company's commercial airplanes division said Wednesday.

The aerospace giant simply cannot survive if it continues to be dependent on the cyclical airplane manufacturing business, he said, so it must build up other divisions, such as space and communications, and military operations, to weather downturns in airplane manufacturing such as the one right now.

It's also critical that the company expand internationally if it wants to compete with rival Airbus, Mulally said, especially since Boeing has grown increasingly dependent on business from international airlines.
