COMPOSITES R&D FOR SUPERIOR PROTECTION Solectria Awarded U.S. Army Advanced Materials Contract.

Solectria Corporation of Woburn, Massachusetts has been awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) to investigate the use of its proprietary Diaphorm(TM) composite preforming technology in the production of composite ballistic armor components. The goal of the two-year, $730k program is to investigate how Solectria's binder preforming technology affects the performance of composite ballistic armor, and to develop optimized binder systems for use in the Diaphorm process during production of composite ballistic armor.
