As his grandfather used a carefully prepared state-of-the-art Ryan aircraft, the Spirit of St. Louis, in 1927, Erik Lindbergh has used the latest technology in aircraft and instrumentation to fly the New York to Paris route in half the 33 hours needed by Lucky Lindy in 1927.
