As his grandfather used a carefully prepared state-of-the-art Ryan aircraft, the Spirit of St. Louis, in 1927, Erik Lindbergh has used the latest technology in aircraft and instrumentation to fly the New York to Paris route in half the 33 hours needed by Lucky Lindy in 1927. To select a single engine aircraft to replicate his grandfather's trip, Erik's investigation considered all available production models before settling on the Columbia 300, flagship of the new line of composite aircraft developed by The Lancair Company, affectionately referred to by its staff as TLC.
