Automotive Composites Donald Sell from General Motors' Body Structures Group, spoke on the potential use of composites for passenger cars. He has spent over 20 years in composites deign. He said, "We demand defect-free components, more stiffness is a must - even with cuts in weight, we need surface finish quality and lower costs, we need load-bearing primary structures in composites, and we see a major opportunity for 'exposed carbon fiber' for aesthetics.
