JUNE 2, 2003 - COMPOSITES MAINLY TO COME FROM HEXCEL, CYTEC Hexcel Composites developed two new matrix products for the manufacture of aircraft primary structures: M21, and M36. The M21 resin matrix is tailored both for unidirectional tape and fabric, but specifically for prepregs. It is said to be particularly easy to process due to its controlled flow and simple cure schedule, requiring no post cure. The tack and presentation has been optimized for automatic tape laying and rapid lay-up.
The M21 prepreg is Hexcel's recommended product for large volume structures in new aerospace programs, including the A380, JSF, and A400M.
