Quantum Selected for DOE Funding; R&D Supports President's FreedomCAR and Hydrogen Fuel Initiatives.

July 22, 2003 - Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide, Inc. was selected for an award by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to advance its hydrogen storage technology as announced by the DOE on July 17, 2003. Quantum's award is focused on overcoming technical barriers to widespread commercialization of hydrogen storage, including cost and storage capacity.

The project will also include development of advanced integrated safety monitoring systems in partnership with the Oak Ridge National Labs. The contract award is anticipated to reach $2.6 million, subject to final negotiations with the DOE.
