AWEA Increases 2003 Forecast for U.S. Wind Business.

August 22, 2003 - AWEA reports that the U.S. is projected to install 1,400-1,600 MW of new wind power this year. The growth in wind-generated power reduces demand for natural gas and its environmental impact. In spite of the good news, AWEA notes that the wind industry's future beyond the end of 2003 depends heavily on whether Congress extends the wind production tax credit (PTC) that is scheduled to expire Dec.
