New Use Found for Old FRP Wind Turbine Blades.

March 18, 2004 - A collaboration project involving Vestas, LM Glasfiber, Marius Pedersen and H.J. Hansen Genvindingsindustri A/S has now paid off with the environment as a winner. Disposing of turbine blades has now been replaced by the possibility of dividing the blades up into useable small units, which can be incinerated by power stations to generate heat for homes and businesses.

Previously, all parts of the blade were deposited. The new method means that today, only 20 per cent of the material in old blades has to be deposited as slag. Vestas expects genuine recycling ...
