Airbus Presents Foldable Seats for Economy Cabin.

June 11, 2004 - Airbus is discussing with airlines a revolutionary seat concept, the Airbus Folding Passenger Seat, for economy class cabins as part of its constant drive to improve comfort for passengers. The Airbus Folding Passenger Seat was a star attraction at the recent Hamburg Aircraft Interior Exposition and the ILA Berlin Airshow, where the public were able to see the new seat and sit on it.
The main objective of this seat is to make it easier for passengers and crew to move around the cabin and access overhead stowage. To achieve this, Airbus has used a principle similar to that used in theatres and cinemas, i.e. the seat base automatically folds up when the seat is not occupied.
