Since July 1, Daniel M. Szente has been chief investment officer of the $170 billion California Public Employees' Retirement System, Sacramento. He had been executive president and director of research for McGlinn Capital Management Inc., Wyomissing, Pa. Previously, he managed a $1.8 billion stock portfolio for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's endowment fund.
He also spent 16 years at the Ohio State Teachers' Retirement System, Columbus, where he was responsible for the fund's financial assets.
