Morgan Stanley strategist Wien heads for Pequot.(appointment of Byron R. Wien )(Brief Article)

WESTPORT, Conn. - Byron R. Wien will join Pequot Capital Management as managing director and chief investment strategist, effective Dec. 1. It is a new position, said spokesman Jonathan Gasthalter. Mr. Wien will work closely with Arthur J. Samberg, chairman and chief executive officer, and the rest of the hedge fund manager's investment team to develop new global macro strategies.

Mr. Wien will work in Pequot's New York office. Mr. Wien has been one of the most-quoted U.S. investment strategists for most of his 20-year career at Morgan Stanley, where he was most recently senior U.S. investment strategist.
