Pondering Phaeton's fate Volkswagen didn't do its homework on the Phaeton (AW, July 22). Toyota, Nissan and Honda correctly determined that to aim higher, they'd have to introduce new brand names, such as Lexus, Infiniti and Acura. These names would signify exclusivity, quality and opulence, as well as a high price.
