The fastest production sedan? ``The world's fastest four-door production car!'' That's how Mercedes-Benz is bill-ing its E55 AMG, due to debut at the Paris show next month. The E-Class flagship receives a version of the supercharged 5.5-liter V8 engine first unveiled in the SL55 AMG (see cover story, page 12).

The detuned three-valve-per-cylinder engine makes 476 hp at 6100 rpm and 506 lb-ft of torque at 2650 rpm-up by 122 hp and 122 lb-ft over its predecessor's naturally aspirated engine. All that power pushes the E55 from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds, Mercedes says. ...
