By winning at Richmond, Jeremy Mayfield jumped five spots into ninth, racing his way into the top-10 and a chance for the Nextel Cup. Mark Martin's fifth-place finish in the race moved him to eighth in the championship. Ryan Newman finished 20th in the race, but that was good enough for 10th place in the points.
