Byline: BOB TOMAINE Francis Edgar Stanley's son knew what he wanted in 1910. "Ray Stanley told his dad he wanted a lower car, similar to the Stutzes and the Mercers,'' said Brent Campbell of Northboro, Massachusetts. "He wanted something sporty. He was 15 years old, he was fond of cars, so he left it to Dad to figure out how to get the look he wanted.'' The result was a 30-hp Stanley steam-powered roadster Campbell has owned since the late 1990s.
