Bimmer bummer An AutoWeek cover car should elicit lust, but the new BMW 3 Series (Feb. 14) doesn't. Maybe it's the high beltline and smaller greenhouse, or the "Dame Edna'' front-end styling. The reshaped taillights and trunk lip aren't enough to make the car attractive. E. Sloan, Framingham, Mass. I've owned BMWs since 1969, but my next car may be an Infiniti. I can't get excited when the top 3 comes with only 255 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque. Even the Toyota Avalon has 280 hp and 260 lb-ft, while Infiniti offers a 4.5-liter 335-hp V8 in the M45 and a 280-hp six-speed V6 ...
