Do we go with new or retro? Dutch Mandel is right in his Jan. 24 column-the new Mustang is good design. But Richard S. Chang (Jan. 10) is right too, because it doesn't advance the art of design; retro can never do that. As a commercial-design architect for nearly 40 years, many of my designs are in the retro-futuristic category, though we don't call it that.
