In fact Jack Roush delights in recounting when he told NASCAR president Mike Helton he might just put five teams in this newfangled Chase for the Cup deal. It was January 2004, soon after the suits in Daytona Beach announced their TV-friendly, 10-driver, 10-race playoff to determine the Nextel Cup champion.
