For Alexander, more often than not, his subjects did not pose in a studio and were not carved by nature over time. They hurtled at him, within inches of his camera lens, and only steely nerves, an artist's eye and incredible timing made him what he is today: a legendary chronicler of motorsports whose work transcends reportage and ascends into art.
