Byline: GREG KABLE WITH THE LAUNCH OF the second-generation RS4 sedan last year, Audi made headlines by shoehorning a highly strung 4.2-liter V8 into its volume-selling sedan. It was, claimed chairman Martin Winterkorn, "the dawn of a brand-new era of go-fast Audi models." Now the company underscores that point with its Cabriolet and Avant (wagon), spawning a whole family of RS4 bahnstormers from its in-house Quattro GmbH division sure to have officials from BMW's M and Mercedes' AMG divisions looking over their shoulders.
