TOYOTA AT MONTEREY.(Competition)
AutoWeek, September, 2006
The Toyota F1 team set a Laguna Seca lap record during the Monterey Historic Races. Test driver Ricardo Zonta, who won the 1998 FIA GT race and title at the 2.238-mile, 11-turn circuit, drove Toyota's TF106 (the 2006 car) on Friday and clocked one minute, 7.587 seconds. That eclipsed the previous record, one minute, 7.722 seconds, set by Helio Castroneves in a Penske CART car in 2000.
