Byline: BOB GRITZINGER The bad news: That 1939 Auto Union Type D V12 that was pulled from the Feb. 17 Retromobile auction in Paris is not the car that won the 1939 French Grand Prix. The good news: The car, which wowed the crowds at Retromobile despite its then-dubious status, is believed to be the last remaining 1939 Auto Union Type D V12 in existence that can boast Grand Prix racing provenance.
