DECEPTIVE RESULT; Audi won at Sebring-as many expected-but the racing will only get better.(Motorsports)

Byline: GARY WATKINS Audi won the 55th 12 Hours of Sebring by six laps. One of its two R10 turbodiesel prototypes led all but 21 of the 364 laps of the American Le Mans Series opener. If those statistics make it sound as though Audi had an easy time, it didn't. Only in the last hour could drivers Emanuele Pirro, Frank Biela and Marco Werner feel their race was won.

The competition came from an unlikely quarter. Porsche led the challenge early with its fleet of LMP2-class RS Spyders, but from the fourth hour on, it was new ALMS competitor Acura that kept the diesels honest. ...
