Dream cars don't change In "Coachbuilt, Not Tuned'' (May 7), I was intrigued by the question Mark Vaughn asked about the relative pricing of the Fisker Tramonto. In 1927, the average skilled worker could expect to earn a princely $31.09 per week, or about $1,585 a year. Today's average household (with a skilled worker for comparison) brings in approximately $48,500.
Working with that ratio, today's $369,500 Fisker would have cost about $12,075. The beautiful custom-bodied and probably supercharged Mercedes of 1927 would be just as far out of reach for the worker of 1927 as ...
