Juan Pablo Montoya is said to have set the standard last year for open-wheel drivers making their debuts in NASCAR.
But what does it say about the difficulty the former Formula One star faced when he won his only Cup race on a road course where playing the fuel game got him to victory lane? It means the transition must not be that simple.
Look around the stock-car world, and find an example of an open-wheel driver who made a smooth transition from something other than a USAC sprint car or midget.
