Three months in, we're loving our long-term BMW 750Lithe power, the ride, the vast improvements in styling and layout over the previous model and the overall luxuriousness of it. But frankly, we've grown tired of its, well, tires.

It started out innocently enough. In Detroit, potholes are a way of life, and hitting enough of them means occasionally sacrificing rubber. So halfway through the quarter, when one staffer limped the car back to the office with a bubbled sidewall, we promptly headed to our friendly local BMW dealer, who not only had to replace the right front tire (broken belt) but also had to straighten and balance the rim. The active cruise control had to be recalibrated, too, given that the sensor had been knocked...
