IN A TIME OF REDUCED BUDGETS, police officers are more inclined to write you a ticket instead of giving a friendly warning. Because of this, there couldn't be a better time for a radar detector. Enter Escort's Passport 9500ix.

For the 9500ix, Escort has introduced new GPS-based features, including an auto-learn program and speed/red-light camera database. The auto-learn feature eliminates false alarms by storing them in the detector's memory by location and frequency if determined not to be a threat.

To combat the growing number of speed and red-light cameras, Escort loaded the 9500ix with a database of known camera locations. When approaching one, the detector counts down the distance to the camera. Updated camera...
