Power in the garden patch: Protein is important for building muscles, but most male athletes get plenty of that. It's fruits and vegetables they forget about, according to dietitian Melinda Manore in the American College of Sports Medicine's Health & Fitness Journal. In one survey, only 18 percent of male athletes consumed at least five servings of veggies a day.
