Byline: Tara Malone Daily Herald Staff Writer As flames engulfed the garage of a historic home in unincorporated Mundelein early Saturday, four dogs howled, barked and yelped at the first whiff of smoke. Three bull terriers and a Jack Russell terrier alerted residents of a home in the 25000 block of Gilmer Road to the fire that began in the garage and threatened to overtake the nearby home around 6:20 a.m.
