County looking to be ready for bioterrorists.(News)

Feared terrorist acts didn't ring true when the world celebrated the new year, but federal and local officials believe the threat is real and want to be prepared. The U.S. Department of Justice is planning to dole out $30 million in grants nationwide for biochemical safety equipment and training if a terrorist attack occurs.

Lake County is in line to receive a $200,000 Justice Department grant this year under the program. The Lake County Fire Department Specialized Response Team handles bioterrorism and hazardous materials calls. It draws from 26 fire departments and the sheriff's department.
