From the con artist in "House of Games" to the weaselly car salesman in "Fargo," William H. Macy has given us a diverse portfolio of regular guys stuck in irregular circumstances.

His small part as the nervous "Tuna Dad" in "Searching for Bobby Fischer" illustrated Macy's gift for turning himself invisible and letting his character show through. He imbues compassion and complexity into every role. Look at his reluctantly homosexual sheriff in "Happy Texas." Acting doesn't get any better.
