Several Elgin Area School District U-46 educators have also become doctors. But they won't be practicing any medicine. Instead they have a higher degree in education. Twelve U-46 employees recently obtained their doctorate from Loyola University. The are Marge Fostiak, principal of Channing Elementary; Berlinda Gallegos, a reading specialist; Marlene Berman, coordinator of Safe and Drug Free Schools; Rita Blankenship, Highland Elementary principal; Jean Bowen, assistant principal at Larkin High School; Mary Hausner, coordinator or reading and language arts for U-46; Jim Hawkins, a social worker at Elgin High School; Steven Klein, coordinator of gifted education; Kathy Miller, Willard Elementary principal; Edward Russell, a divisional chair at Bartlett High School;...
