Harriet Larsen of Roselle was a bit concerned when her monthly Social Security check didn't arrive as scheduled Thursday. Or on Friday. Or Saturday. Or Monday. She was not alone. And after placing calls to U.S. Rep. Henry Hyde's office, the Roselle post office and the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, D.C., Larsen is still without her benefits pay.
"In the meanwhile, I have a mortgage coming up, and if I didn't have money in the savings account, I'd be up the old creek," Larsen said.
