Byline: Susan Stevens Daily Herald Staff Writer Edward Hospital in Naperville finally has won a round with state regulators who Thursday approved a $44.9 million plan for 71 new beds. The Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board also granted the hospital Level III status for its perinatal and neonatal intensive care unit, putting its stamp of approval on Edward's efforts to provide the most advanced care to mothers and new babies.
The new beds will alleviate a space crunch at Edward and accommodate projected growth in Naperville and surrounding suburbs, hospital officials said.
