THE BRIEFS Friendship Village program focuses on 'Land Down Under' Australia, the "Land Down Under," will be the subject of a lecture at 2 p.m. today in the Friendship Hall at Friendship Village of Schaumburg, 350 W. Schaumburg Road. DePaul University Professor Betta LoSardo will explore Australia's people, geography and historical issues.
LoSardo is a resident faculty member of DePaul University's School for New Learning and director of curriculum for DePaul's Oak Forest Campus. She lived and taught in Sydney, Australia, for four years. In addition to exploring the people and history of the continent, LoSardo will delve into Sydney's successful bid for the 2000 Summer Olympics, discuss the country's art and culture and explore its political problems....
