Caution on vaccines Thank you for speaking out in your editorial for the chickenpox vaccination decision being left up to parents ("Vaccine mandate not needed," Dec. 8). It is imperative that parents exercise informed consent and choice about their children's vaccinations. Little information about the chickenpox vaccine's missing safety data and adverse reactions reached the Immunization Advisory Committee or the State Board of Health.
The vaccine's manufacturer has yet to produce peer-reviewed, published studies showing long-term safety or the safety data on the ingredients. These include aborted fetal tissue cells, fetal bovine serum, hydrolyzed gelatin and monosodium glutamate (MSG). More than 9,000 adverse reactions reports have been filed with the...
