Byline: Graham Buck Daily Herald Staff Writer Prospect Heights' lone supermarket, a Dominick's Finer Foods in the Prospect Crossing shopping center, is losing $25,000 a week and threatening to shelve its operations unless it gets a tax break from the city. The supermarket is asking the city for a 50 percent sales tax rebate that would not exceed $90,000 each year.
The tax break, together with a reduction in the price of its lease and a new, aggressive marketing campaign should keep the supermarket's doors open for the near future, said Michael F. Mallon, vice president of real estate for Dominick's.
