Byline: Ted Cox Like so many works of art she analyzes, Sister Wendy Beckett embraces contradictions. She's a Big C Catholic nun with little c catholic tastes. Big C Catholicism, of course, is religion. Yet the little c adjective "catholic" means "comprehensive in sympathies or understanding, liberal," according to my Webster's dictionary.

Sister Wendy doesn't let dogma get in the way of art appreciation. With her placid speech and piercing gaze, Sister Wendy has become something of a TV star in her native England and here on PBS for her loving specials on fine art.
