Red Cross has another request: for tolerance Since the tragic events of Sept. 11, we at the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago have been overwhelmed by the show of support from Chicago-area residents who answered our call for blood donations and financial contributions to help us respond to the needs of victims of the terrorist attack.

Today, we ask the Chicago area to respond to an additional call to action - a citywide demonstration of tolerance and respect for our neighbors and friends, regardless of their nationality, ethnic origin, race or creed. As the nation's premier disaster relief organization, the Red Cross was founded on seven principles, among them humanity and impartiality. These principles are followed by Red Cross societies worldwide....
